Oh, hey, October. Didn't see you come in.
I've stopped and started this post a few times. As I look back on the last year of Kitchen Sink Links and all the times I've shared what I was looking forward to each month I find one word repeatedly repeated: busy. Busy, busy, busy - we are all so very busy. My heart feels heavy - I'm worried being busy isn't the point.I can't remember why I started or see why I'm so busy. I can see so much more when I can pause and focus. This is a discussion that has been come up with fellow bloggers, friends, family, even the New York Times - so can we please take October to cut back a little, to schedule some down time, and relax and ready before wrap out 2013?
October is my favorite month because 1. Fall, y'all and 2. Its my birthday month. We are taking a family vacation this month and I can't wait to pause for a week.
Here are some things I'm reading and loving right now:
What Gets Lost in our carefully curated Online Conversations (via NPR, hat tip to Jason Dominy)
Speaking of Jason Dominy - his post on being content in our brokenness (I'm Not Whole) struck a cord with me.
I've started a pin board to get my mind in the season until it feels like fall here in Atlanta.
My husband bought the BrandMarket workshop for my birthday. I am really looking forward to November 2nd and its going to be a catalyst for big projects next year.
What makes you excited for fall? Have you apple or pumpkin picked yet this season? What are you dressing as for Halloween? As always I would love to know!
PS. I just read via Better Homes and Gardens that now is the time to buy decorations, paper products, and wrapping to ready yourself for the holidays. Most stores have post Halloween sales. Keep your eye out!
