Thirsty Thursday: Toasted Almond

I don't know about you, but I generally don't keep amaretto stocked in the bar. Among my bar regulars are bourbon, vodka, gin, and rum. Sure, we have a bottle of Kahlua and now some Rootbeer liquor. I mentioned picking up the amaretto for a very special cake I made recently. Now that I have a bottle of amaretto in the bar I feel obligated to give it a go in a few classic cocktails.

After doing some research on the subject of amaretto, I came to one conclusion: amaretto is delicious and you can pretty much drink it as so. It will now be a regular at our bar. You can mix 1 part amaretto with 1 part vodka and make a Godmother. Or you can mix 1 part amaretto with 1 part scotch and have a Godfather. Or you can get a little Lebowski on it and make a Toasted Almond.

This is a drink that makes me want to sit around a campfire in fall and tell tall tales. But it has been prefect on the blustery spring days Atlanta has been seeing.

We initially tried this drink with cream as it was written and found the concoction a little heavy.

Toasted Almond

1 part kaluha

1 part amaretto

1 part half and half

Combine in a rocks glass over ice.
